Mexico on my Mind
Mexico on my Mind
Inspired by a recent sojourn in historic and art-centered San Miguel de Allende (Mexico), these six offerings explore how the flora, fauna and folklore of the land interweave with personal musings and inner stirrings from the soul of a painter.
QUE PASA MUJER, 1-3 imagine exchanges between the mobile flippancy of birds and the planturous but earth-bound resilience of the ever-present cactus. SECRET GARDEN, 1 and 2 peer into scenes of mood-switching soliloquy by a woman taking refuge in Nature, whereas ANGUSTIA plunges natural and human subjects into the maelstrom of a nightmare, reminding the viewer of the starkly evocative contrasts of Mexican culture.
